SA records first Monkeypox case

South Africa’s first case of Monkeypox has been identified through laboratory testing. The case involves a 30-year-old male from Gauteng without a travel history. Health Minister, Dr Joe Phaahla, says the National Institute for Communicable Diseases will be conducting training for healthworkers to help them detect the disease. Dr Phaahla has also announced that the country’s now officially mask free.
