The Pixel 7 series doesn’t officially arrive until Thursday, but with so many leaks we feel like it is already here. And if you don’t feel that way, here is some more leaked info – Google has significantly improved the battery life of the new models compared to the 6 series. Also, the cameras on the two models will be more different than they were on last year’s models.
The Google Pixel 7 will have a smaller battery than its predecessor – 4,355mAh, down from 4,614mAh – and yet (according to unofficial data) it will last up to 72 hours with Extreme Battery Saver, 50% longer than the 48 hours advertised for the Pixel 6. Without this power-saving mode the Pixel 7 will reportedly last up to 31 hours in certain tests.

The larger Pixel 7 Pro will haeve the exact same battery capacity as its predecessor – 5,000mAh – but it too promises up to 72 hours of usage with Extreme Battery Saver (up from 48 hours on the 6 Pro). The larger display on this one puts extra toll on the battery so it should last around 27 hours of regular usage.
The two new models are bringing a new selfie camera too, a 10.8MP unit. Some rumors claimed that it will have autofocus, but the latest report from WinFuture says otherwise. Also, the camera will not be identical between the two phones: on the Pro it will have 93° FoV, while on the Pixel 7 will be slightly wider at 97°.
Similarly, the ultra wide cameras on the back are said to have different fields of view – 125° on the pro and a not-so-wide 106° on the vanilla model. This seems rather strange, so we’ll wait for official confirmation in a couple of days (both models had 114° lenses last year).
The main camera should be the same with a 50MP sensor (1/1.3”) and OIS (f/1.85 lens, 82°). The vanilla phone will rely on its Super Res Zoom feature for zooming in, while the Pro model will have a dedicated 4.8x periscope lens (up from 4.0x on the 6 Pro) with a 48MP sensor behind it.

The displays will be a major differentiating factor as well. The Pro will flaunt a 6.7” AMOLED panel (1,440 x 3,120px) with 120Hz resolution and a peak brightness of 1,500 nits. The Pixel 6 will go a tenth of an inch smaller than its predecessor with a 6.32” gOLED panel (1,080 x 2,400px), 90Hz refresh rate and 1,400 nits peak brightness. Both will have metal frames and Gorilla Glass Victus on the front.
The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be officially unveiled on October 6 (Thursday) and unofficial info suggests that they will go on sale a week later on the 13th. The Pixel 7 should start at €650, its Pro sibling will be €900. This is with different memory options, mind you – 8/128GB for the vanilla model and 12/128GB for the Pro.
