Warning: Spoilers for Blood Hunt #5!One of the newest Avengers has already saved the world. Not every superhero in the Marvel Universe is allowed entry into the exclusive club that is The Avengers. Even more rare is the number of Avengers who are capable of singlehandedly saving the world. Some make excellent supporting players on the sidelines, but not everyone can prove themselves on the front lines.
Blade’s daughter, Bloodline, is front and center throughout Marvel’s Blood Hunt event. She proves to be instrumental in saving the world in Blood Hunt #5 by Jed MacKay, Pepe Larraz, Marte Gracia, Fer Sifuentes-Sujo, and VC’s Cory Petit. Truth be told, the true savior of the Marvel Universe manages to be Doctor Doom heading into his One World Under Doom event, but Bloodline’s moves in this conclusion give Doom the opening he needs to save everyone.
For all intents and purposes, it’s Bloodline who saves the world, officially cementing her greatness as a bonafide Avenger.
Bloodline Saves the Marvel Universe
Just as Much as Doom Does
Bloodline made her Marvel Comics debut in 2022, slowly integrating her way into storylines by way of getting to know her superhero father, Blade, both as a dad and as a mentor training her. Fast-forward to two years later, and she faces her first big challenge as an established superhero in Blood Hunt. The daughter of Blade not only enters her first major crossover event, but the threat is her father. Or, rather, a monster wearing the skin of her father, as Blade is possessed by the oldest vampire. However, that doesn’t stop Brielle Brooks from being prophesied to defeat Blade as his bloodline.
In this issue, an initially reluctant but prepared Bloodline attacks her father, but of course, this isn’t her father. It’s Varnae possessing her father. Thus, she is not of Varnae’s bloodline – but Miles Morales is. Spider-Man was turned into a vampire by Varnae, and since Varnae sired him, that officially makes Spider-Man his bloodline, as both he and Bloodline plunge a sword through him. Bloodline and Spider-Man’s distraction not only deals a violent blow, but gives Doctor Doom an opening to undo Varnae’s wicked deeds, and Scarlet Witch to extract Varnae from Blade’s body.
Bloodline’s Part in Saving the World
It’s Essential to The Avengers’ Success
There’s an argument to be made that the day would not have been saved without Bloodline’s interference especially. Props to her and Spider-Man’s teamwork prevailing again, but for a hero who’s doubted since the start of this event if she has what it takes to stop her father, the Avengers may not have caught a second wind without Bloodline arriving in the nick of time. Doom certainly would not find the opening that he needs without Miles and Brielle opening that door for him, something he even admits before casting his spell.
Even if readers think it’s a stretch to say that Brielle outright saves the world, it can’t be denied that she plays an essential part in the world being saved. There’s further evidence of that being the case with Bloodline being introduced as one of the story’s Key Players in the opening pages of this issue, as well as Bloodline standing tall beside the Avengers confirming that “all of us” won. A rookie no longer, Bloodline is officially a world-saving member of the Avengers, and her profile continues to rise sky-high in the Marvel Universe.
Blood Hunt #5 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
