Gundam Evolution: Strongest Season 1 Units

Every video game has its strongest and weakest characters, and the Mobile Suit Units in Gundam Evolution are no different. In the new team-based Hero Shooter, players fight in two-round matches of six-on-six, in the first round as either the defenders or the attackers, then with the roles switched in the next. Each Unit has its own strengths and weaknesses, but some are just plain better than others. These better units can function well in any match, and thanks to their flexible kits and powerful ultimate abilities are well suited whether on attack or defense no matter the map.

There are three types of matches, Point Capture, Destruction, and Domination, with multiple different maps and seventeen different units to play with. Like other hero shooters, more units will be added to Gundam Evolution in time, but this is what Season 1 has to offer. Point Capture is where the Attacker team tries to capture first Point A and then Point B as the Defenders try to stop. On Destruction matches, the Defenders try to keep the Attackers from setting off a timed explosion at one of two points, and then repeat it again at a different set of two points if they fail. Finally, there’s Domination, a king of the hill type mission where both teams try to control one of three points to raise their score to 100.

All units in Gundam Evolution can work in every mission, but some are not as suited to it. The GM Sniper II is focused on long-range and team support, and isn’t suited to the back-and-forth brawls of Domination, for example. The Methus, while an excellent support unit when defending, is fragile and without much utility on the attack. By contrast, the three Units below can function in any match whether attack or defending. They’re all hard to master, but reward those players who do so.

Strongest Gundam Evolution Units in Season 1

First on the list is the Sazabi. One of the suits piloted by Gundam’s iconic Char Aznable, this is the most tank-like unit in the game with 1400HP and an equally strong shield. Its beam tomahawk and homing boost let it stun enemies and get right into the thick of melee combat, where its beam shotgun performs best in taking out large chunks of enemy health points, and the enemy search prevents others from sneaking up on the player. This unit’s ultimate, Funnels, could almost be an afterthought if it weren’t for how much damage the six drones will just deal out while active. So long as there’s a fight, this unit wants to be in the thick of it.

Next is the Gundam Barbatos, from one of the most popular of Gundam’s alternate universes. A completely melee-focused Unit, it has two stuns in its Long Sword ability and Mace (Smash) alt-fire that lets it dash in, stun, kill a vulnerable enemy, and leap away with its Boost Jump. Its ultimate, Alay-Vijnana, lets it spread this damage to multiple enemies at once. Similarly, the Gundam Exia is a melee-focused Unit, only with more mobility in its three dashes, Quick Step Ability, and its GN Sword Rush that allow it to quickly travel around the entire map. Its ultimate, Trans-Am, just makes it even faster and more punishing melee.

Gundam Evolution will certainly have more Units added over the course of time, just like its competitor Overwatch 2, but for now, these three stand as the strongest ones in the game.
